Cheltenham is for many people a musical desert most of the time but that can’t be said when the Jazz Festival comes to town. There’s almost too much crammed into a very short bank holiday weekend but we’re not complaining here!

Over the years, since Jim Smith’s original way back in the mid 90’s, we’ve been blessed with a fine array of jazzers from trad to avant garde and recently the burgeoning London scene. Amidst some hazy memories I think i’ve seen these acts at the various tents, venues and bars across the town; Courtney Pine, Seun Kuti, The Herbaliser, Squarepusher, Melt Yourself Down (playing at the Guildhall in Gloucester on March 19th), Roots Manuva, Nubya Garcia, and sadly missed Chick Corea, Tony Allen both of whom left us last year.

It might be a bit expensive but as its only once a year ….. get your tickets here and support by far Cheltenham’s best music festival
